Arpita Mukherjee flat like Ali Baba Iron Chest till the ED recover more than 50 crore cash. The second flat of Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of WB minister Partha Chatterjee, was raided on Wednesday.
After the recovery of ‘mountain of notes’ in the first raid, now cash like Alibaba chests has been found from Arpita’s house. This second house of Arpita is in Belgharia Town Club of Kolkata.
Earlier, an amount of more than Rs 21 crore was found from a house of Arpita Mukherjee and important papers were in hand. Now 28.90 crore cash and 5 kg gold have been found.
The ED raided a flat owned by Arpita Mukherjee and seized cash worth about Rs 28.90 crore and 5 kg of gold and silver. The cash recovered from both the flats of Arpita has exceeded Rs 50 crore.
Apart from cash and gold, some property documents were also recovered during the raid. ED officials took away the confiscated items during the raid in 10 iron chests.
Sources said as soon as the officials opened the wardrobes and almirahs, boxes of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 notes started falling.
The ED had to bring four large cash-counting machines from the State Bank of India to the flat to count the notes. Counting of notes continued for several hours.
ED teams on Wednesday raided four different addresses. Earlier, 14 teams were involved in the raids. ED officials also visited Mukherjee’s ancestral residence in Belgharia.
